52nd Regiment, Georgia Infantry
52nd Infantry Regiment was organized at Atlanta, Georgia, in April, 1862. Many of its members were drawn from the counties of Habersham, White, Towns, and Fannin. It took part in the Cumberland Gap operations, then moved to Kentucky and later Mississippi. Here the unit was assigned to General Barton's Brigade, Department of Mississippi and East Louisiana, and was active in the conflicts at Chickasaw Bayou and Champion's Hill. On July 4, 1863, when Vicksburg fell, it was part of the garrison that was captured. Exchanged and assigned to General Stovall's Brigade, the 52nd fought with the Army of Tennessee from Missionary Ridge to Nashville. Then on February 23, 1865, it was detailed to guard wagon trains from Columbus, Mississippi. During December, 1863, this unit totalled 279 men and 197 arms, had 123 fit for duty in November, 1864, and the few that remained surrendered on May 4, 1865. The field officers were Colonels Wier Boyd and Charles D. Phillips, Lieutenant Colonel Solomon H. Van Diviere, and Majors J.J. Findley and John J. Moore.

Operators Kindness Draws Special Thanks.
This letter of appreciation has reference to operator L.C. Bramlett. So begins a special "Thank You" recently received by the Transit System from a regular rider of the Peachtree-Ansley bus.
It seems that on March 25, Operator Bramlett had a passenger on his bus, an aged lady who was so exhausted by a trip to town that she missed her home stop. Operator Bramlett took the lady to the end of his route and on the return trip brought her to her regular stop. Realizing that the lady could not go further without assistance, Operator Bramlett then took the time to help her off the bus and across the street and made sure that she would be able to get into her home alone.
A passenger who witnessed Operator Bramlett's act of kindness took the time, that very day, to write the letter of appreciation quoted above, and she included a special accolade for all the "pleasant, courteous and helpful" Peachtree-Ansley operators. Two Bells agrees that kindness "above and beyond the call of duty," deserves special recognition. Congratulations to Operator Bramlett and thanks to the appreciative passenger who brought the incident to our attention.

Mrs. Cammie Lois Doster Bramlett, age 94, of Suches, Georgia, made her entrance into Heaven on November 4th, 2014. She was born on January 5th, 1920 in Winder, Georgia, to the late James William Doster and Effie Mae Vanderford Doster.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Bramlett survived the Great Depression and worked numerous jobs while her husband helped win World War II in the United States Navy. She was a born again Christian and long time member of Bethabra Baptist Church in Hoschton, Georgia.
Mrs. Bramlett was an avid gardener, a talented quilter, an extraordinary Southern cook, and an outstanding snake hunter. It is impossible to tell Mrs. Bramlett’s story without highlighting her marriage. She married Dewel B. Bramlett on Christmas Day of 1940, which was most appropriate because their marriage of 74 years was a tremendously accurate earthly depiction of Christ’s love for the Church. Their deep devotion, unswerving commitment, and love for each other serve as an inspirational example, and that example will be the most enduring aspect of their collective legacy.
Mrs. Bramlett was preceded in death by her brother, Alton Doster, and her sisters, Vivian Doster Fowler and Lurlene Doster Hall.
She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Dewel B. Bramlett; children and spouses, Larry and Mary Bramlett, Sam and Carol (Bramlett) Scoggins, and Terry and Ruth Bramlett; grandchildren and spouses, James and Lisa (Bramlett) Moncrief, Jon and Wendy Bramlett, Zack and Raina Dupree, Christopher and Degina Scoggins, Cammie Burk, Payton and Gini Bramlett, and Leigh Ann Bramlett; great grandchildren, William Scoggins, Ashlie Moncrief, Matthew Scoggins, Catherine Scoggins, Caleb Scoggins, Zöe Dupree, Caroline Scoggins, and T.J. Burk; great, great grandchildren, Dylan Scoggins, Carter Scoggins, and Liam Scoggins.
A celebration of Mrs. Bramlett’s life will be conducted Friday, November 7th, 2014 at 1:00PM in the Akins Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Tim Garrett officiating. Music will be provided by Ruth Bramlett. Pallbearers will be Jon Bramlett, Payton Bramlett, Chris Scoggins, Jimmy Moncrief, Zack Dupree, William Scoggins, and Matthew Scoggins.
Interment will follow at Sugar Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Suches, Georgia. The family will host friends at the funeral home Thursday evening, November 6th, 2014 from 4:00PM-8:00PM.
